Adding features or building from scratch
The first thing to consider before your kickoff meeting is the type of project you will be doing—is this a customer’s first Mobify implementation? Or are they an existing customer being upgraded to the Mobify Platform? Moving forward, you will only create Progressive Mobile web builds and Progressive Mobile apps, but there are things to consider between upgrades and new builds:
- Process: An existing customer will have knowledge of the Mobify design process since they have already been through it. In any case, it’s a good idea to provide a refresher for what is to come. Expectations managed means expectations met.
- Rationale: If you are working on a project that Mobify or a Mobify partner has already worked on, there is a strong possibility that a design retrospective document exists. This document will outline the reasons and the rationale behind certain design decisions. Those decisions may have an impact on yours.
- Past Clients: If Mobify has already done a kickoff with the customer for a previous project, doing another may be redundant. Having another conversation may be beneficial, but you want to balance that with their time investment too. Be respectful: don’t waste a customer’s time if they have already provided everything you need to know.
- Uncover: If you’re upgrading or redesigning their current Mobify implementation, make sure you uncover what the mobile experience is doing well — and what could be better.
